Welding Technology Program – Forge Skills. Build Your Future.
The Welding Technology Program is a one- or two-year course where students master the skills that shape industries and build the world around us. This is a hands-on program where sparks fly, ideas take form, and students prepare for careers in construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, automotive, aerospace, and beyond.
First-year students focus on shop safety, blueprint reading, weld symbols, joint design, fabrication, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick). Students practice the skills needed to pass the AWS (American Welding Society) Structural Welding Test, with the opportunity to earn AWS certification as a flat structural welder. Training also includes oxy-acetylene welding and cutting.
Second-year students advance into Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG/GTAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). They take on special fabrication projects and prepare for AWS certification as all-position welders, meeting real industry standards. Provisions are also made for students who want to explore artistic and sculptural welding.
Earn Professional Certifications
AWS (American Welding Society) National Certifications
Acetylene Torch Safety Certification
S/P2 Hazardous Waste Handling & Shop Safety Certification
Abrasive Safety Certification
10-hour OSHA Certification – General Industry
For those who thrive on challenge, Welding students have the chance to compete in SkillsUSA Welding Technology and Welding Sculpture contests, where they showcase their skills at the state and national level, gaining recognition and career connections.
👉 With welding skills, you won’t just build projects—you’ll build your future.
Career Opportunities in Welding
