The Future Grows Underwater!

Aquaculture ProgramGrow the Future, Right Here in Maine

Maine’s ocean has always been part of our story. Now, it’s part of the future. The Aquaculture Program introduces students to one of the fastest-growing industries in the world—sustainable ocean farming.

Students in this program gain hands-on experience working directly in Belfast Bay on our very own kelp farm. You’ll learn how to seed, grow, and harvest kelp while studying the science and technology that make aquaculture possible. In addition, students explore water chemistry, marine biology, and high-tech monitoring systems that support sustainable fisheries.

Aquaculture is more than food production—it’s a solution for the planet. Kelp captures carbon, restores ocean health, and provides sustainable resources for everything from food and fertilizers to packaging and biofuels. By joining this program, you’ll be part of an industry that’s tackling climate change, feeding the world, and creating new opportunities for Maine’s coastal economy.

Whether your future is in marine science, ocean engineering, environmental activism, culinary arts, or starting your own ocean farm, this program opens the door to exciting and meaningful careers.

👉 Be part of the next wave. Discover how the ocean can fuel innovation, sustainability, and your future.
