WCTC Students Earn Medals at Maine SkillsUSA State Competition

BANGOR — Students from Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC) recently competed in the Maine SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held March 12–13 in Bangor. A total of 29 WCTC students attended the statewide competition, representing several career and technical education programs. SkillsUSA competitions allow students to demonstrate leadership, workplace skills, and technical knowledge while competing with students from technical centers across Maine. Several WCTC students earned medals during the competition. In the Chapter Display competition, Wyatt Rhodes of Searsport District High School, Shelby Traves of Belfast Area High School, and Mason Dimond of Searsport District High School, all students in the Explore CTE program, earned a bronze medal. Brody Ingraham of Mount View High School, a student in the (ESP) Employability Skills Program, earned a silver medal in the Job Skills Demonstration Open competition. Bella Burlingham of Belfast Area High School, a student in Explore CTE, earned a gold medal in the Facilithon competition. WCTC congratulates these medalists and all 29 students who represented the school at the state competition. SkillsUSA is a national organization that prepares students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations through leadership development and hands-on competitions.
