Nearly 300 seventh-grade students from Drinkwater School, Troy Howard Middle School, Mount View Middle School, and Searsport District Middle School spent an exciting afternoon at WCTC during the week of June 8. Students rotated through 13 different career and technical education programs, participating in a series of engaging five-minute, hands-on activities designed to introduce them to a wide range of career pathways.

The interactive experiences gave students a taste of the skills taught in each program. They painted light switch covers in Auto Collision Repair, learned proper patient transfer techniques in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, practiced professional knife cuts using Play-Doh in Culinary Arts (see photo), and explored many other technical and career-focused disciplines.

The event provided students with a fun, engaging, and meaningful introduction to the opportunities available at WCTC. By experiencing a variety of programs firsthand, students were able to discover new interests, and begin thinking about the career and technical education options they may choose to pursue when they enter high school.
