Networking Technology - Activities

The Networking Technology students have opportunities to learn the essential skills for creating terminated fiber optic cables. 

• Students create the glass cable assembly with ST connector terminations and cure the connections with heated epoxy.
• The connectors are then polished and cleaned to prepare for testing.
• The students test the completed cables by passing a television video signal through the fiber optic cable and checking the quality of the picture. Measurements of the decibel loss of the cables are also recorded.

These workshops are presented through a voluntary arrangement with Kennebec Valley Community College.
