Students at KVCC after completing CompTIA certification exams. Software based training
is available to assist anyone in the course who intends to take the exams.

Students in the Networking Technology course learn how to create, test, and design
network cabling systems. Twisted pair, fiber optic, coax, and wireless media are
compared and contrasted in the course.

Routers are set up and configured as part of the course work. The school
has several routers, firewalls, and other network appliances that students can
use while learning the skills to manage these important network devices. |
The course includes network maintenance and upgrade projects throughout the
school. Students help to maintain equipment and help network users.

Course projects include layout and setup of network hardware. Lessons
include the termination and measurement of fiber optic and twisted pair wire
network cables. |
Students from the Computer & Networking courses visit a college computer
course during a visit to the Kennebec Valley Community College
computers & electonics lab.

Students from the Networking Technology course visit Waldo County General Hospital
to learn about professional network planning and management.
