The Natural Resources management program is designed for students who like to be outdoors, working with the environment. This program can be
a one, two or three year program. Students can elect to receive a science credit for completing this course. Students are prepared to go on to
post-secondary education or to go directly into the work force.
This program offers students the opportunity to learn about natural resources in a combined academic and hands-on practical setting. Students
utilize the school’s 35 acre campus to learn about land management and soils, water resources, forestry, wildlife, and outdoor recreation. The
program includes the use of small power equipment and large tractor operation.
The Technical Center’s campus includes woods, fields, a pond, streams and wildlife and serves as the laboratory for many learning activities.
The students are responsible for maintaining and improving the trail system that winds through the woods. Students also work on off-campus projects.
Natural Resources students participate in the Maine Envirothon each year. All students in this program are also members of the Waldo County FFA
Chapter which is a national leadership organization providing opportunities for career development, leadership skills and scholarships. Students
can receive a US Department of Labor Tractor Safety Certificate.
