The Health Science Careers program is a one year course of study offering
students an opportunity to explore a career in health care. Students
learn principles basic to all health careers with emphasis placed on
"hands on" learning during clinical practice at local health care
facilities. Successful completion of course requirements leads to
eligibility to take the state CNA certification exam. Students who
have completed the class and gone on to post secondary education
consistently report advantages provided by their Health Science Careers class.
Efforts will be made to adapt the program for individuals interested in a
specific health career.
In the most recent 1-3-5 year follow up study,
75% of WCTC Health Science Careers students were working or studying in
related fields.
