This 170-hour course prepares an individual for the state certification
examination. Students will learn skills necessary to provide health care in a
hospital or nursing home setting. This course also involves daytime clinical
practice. Diploma or GED is preferred for class, but if either of these can not
be provided a reading test will be required. Uniform fees are additional.
Pre-registration is recommended. Minimum of 8 students
Informational meeting and final registration will take place on 09/04/08 at 6:00
pm. All students interested in taking the class must attend this night.
Complete details of class and clinical hours will be given. To finalize
registration students must pay $75.00 to cover the cost of textbook and
background check on 9/4/08. $350.00 of tuition is due by 9/30/08 with payment
in full made by 11/04/08

Mid-coast EMS Council and Southern Maine Community College coordinate this
course. The five college credits program is designed to instruct the students
to the level of EMT-Basic, who serves as the vital link in the chain of health
care terms. The program includes all skills necessary for the individual to
provide emergency medical care at Basic Life Support Level with an ambulance and
other specialized service. (123 hours plus 10 clinical) All registrations must
be done through Mid-Coast EMS council @ 785-5000

Maine's Driving Dynamics Course

This five-hour course will include discussion of collision avoidance techniques,
safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that
constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. A certified Maine Driving
Dynamics instructor teaches the course. The course format engages students with
lectures, videos, and class discussion/participation.
Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their
driving record.
Students must pre-register and pre-pay.
A mandatory form needs to be filled out and returned before class begins.
WCTC must have 12 paid students 4 days prior to the commencement of the course
or the course will be cancelled.

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the
participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other
navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called “geocaches” or
“caches”) anywhere in the world. The class will have a chance to find several
nearby caches. We will also learn how to create and establish a new cache.
Equipment will be provided.
